Kasturba Gandhi Institute of Higher Education (College)
Kasturba Gandhi Institute of Higher Education, Kebali, Roing, a private institution, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University (A Central University) and recognized by NCTE, New Delhi, Government of India, caters to the need of Teachers’ training since 2014-2015, under the guidance of the Directorate of Higher Technical Education, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh. It has been successfully managed by the Abralow Memorial Multipurpose Society for the one year B.Ed course. Now the two year B.Ed course has been introduced as per NCTE regulation 2014. The approval has also been given to commence the Bachelor of Arts (conventional) course beginning with the session of 2017-18. With a sprawling campus with the required amenities, the KGIHE is also poised to incorporate the 4-year integrated course (BA-B.Ed) as and when mandated by the guidelines of the Government of India.
This college was established with the view to imparting training not only to the future teachers but also to train untrained practicing teachers .It was established by the AMMS with the vision of uplifting quality education in the state which has a huge ratio of untrained teachers with approximately 70% of teachers in primary and secondary school level.
The more important reason for opening this training institute is also to tap rural talents from the Economically Weaker Sections, below Poverty Line, having talents but without opportunities. Since Arunachal Pradesh is predominantly a state populated with almost 100% ST population, most of the parents cannot afford to send their children outside the state for pursuing further education in colleges and universities. This institution provides tremendous relief to such students while at the same time bringing a higher value and quality education to their doorsteps. The institution also has allowed provisions for some relief in the fee structure for such students from the economically weaker section.
Now the KGIHE is engaged in various community oriented service in the remote areas. This is evident also from the fact that we provide 10% free education for those who belong from economical weaker section or below poverty line. The KGIHE has established an Environmental study Centre at the campus by way of conserving 15 Hectares of land which acts as a natural habitat for the local biodiversity. This patch of land in the campus preserved for the wildlife showcases the significance of wildlife preservation through traditional conservation. On the academic front, the institution has provisions for career counseling, science exhibitions, Teacher Orientation Programme and Teacher Training etc. In the last five years the institution has achieved good academic record as shown below:-
1. No. of students who secured ranks in the university top ten rank : 9 (Nine)
2. No. of students who cleared APTET Examination : 70
3. No. of students who cleared CTET Examination : 47
4. No. of in-service teachers trained : 57
Presently the College has:
